1/15/16

Our second week of this semester was busy and exciting!

Don't forget that it is a three day weekend in honor of MLK jr. day on Monday.

We finished our 5 senses unit with 2 science experiments.
On Monday, we did a taste test! We talked about our taste buds and how they send messages to our brains about how things taste. We tried a lemon, baking chocolate, potato chips, and an oreo. We learned that certain foods can taste sour, bitter, salty, or sweet.

Ms. Woltmann ended our senses unit by making cinnamon/chocolate play-doh with the class to talk about our sense of smell. We learned that our noses send messages to our brain to tell us if a smell is pleasant or unpleasant.

Math night was so much fun. We are so happy so many families could make it.

Kate's dad came in as our mystery reader this week. It was such a surprise!

In math this week, we learned about the addition symbol. We learned that the plus sign tells us to add together the two numbers on either side. Have your child tell you a "number story" and write the number sentence that goes along with it using the addition symbol.

On Thursday, we had a scientist from "High Touch High Tech" come in to teach us more about our senses. It was a great way to end our unit!

Have a wonderful long weekend!

See you Tuesday,
Ms. Ardito
