3/18/16

This week was spent setting leprechaun traps, hunting for shamrocks, and gearing up for St. Patrick's Day.

Sarah's mom came in as a mystery reader and read "The Surgery Book for Kids" by Shivani Bhatia.

Then on Tuesday, Lily's dad came in as a mystery reader and read a book about St. Patrick's day and told us all about the holiday. We learned how Saint Patrick chased all the snakes out of Ireland.

We went on a field trip to see "Let's Go Science" an interactive and engaging show teaching kids all about scientific concepts.

Lila's mom also came in as a mystery reader and read "The Hair Book"  by Graham Tether.  She talked to us about her profession as a hair stylist and how important it is to take good care of your hair!

Noa's Grandma and mom came in and read a few poems from Shel Siverstein's "Where the Sidewalk Ends".

On Wednesday afternoon we left the room and set up traps in hopes of catching a leprechaun. We didn't catch a single one, but there was evidence that they had been there! The room was covered with little green footprints and each child was left a lollipop.

We enjoyed tasting traditional Irish food (lucky charms) and graphing and tallying the different types of marshmallows each student had on his or her plate.

We also celebrated Levi's Super Kid Day this week. His family came in and read "Becoming Vader" and shared munchkins from Dunkin Donuts with the class.

Next week is our Q and U wedding! We picked roles this afternoon and I have sent out an email with a more detailed explanation.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Ms. Ardito
