On Wednesday we celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday. We had a wonderful time doing all things Seuss. Thanks for our wonderful parents for putting it together and helping out. The Cat in the Hat even came to visit!
This week Finn's mom came in as a Mystery Reader and read "Wilfred" by Mem Fox. She even came in disguised with a bag on her head!
This week in math we have been learning to count by 5's to 100. We learned that counting by 5's is a faster way to count to a higher number. We used our hands to see!
In line with counting by 5's, we have been talking about tally marks and making bundles of five. The kids have done a great job! Ask your child to count something in your home using tally marks.
We have also been talking about measurement. First we measured things around the room using our own feet.
Then, we learned there is a "standard" foot that helps us to know the exact size of objects and people. We measured other items around the room and compared our findings.
On Thursday we got to go on a Nature walk with our Lil' buddies! They took us on a scavenger hunt around the neighborhood. We looked for things like stop signs, a blue car, squirrels, bikers, and so much more. Ask your child about some of the things we found.
We celebrated Mora's Super Kid Day. Her family came in and read "Bedtime Stories" and shared donuts with the class.
Next week, we have a field trip on March 17th, St. Patrick's Day. We are going to see "Let's Go Science" an interactive, scientific show! We will leave around 9am and be back in time for lunch.
Don't forget to spring forward and turn your clocks an hour ahead on Sunday!
Ms. Ardito
