Good afternoon,
This week was filled with Halloween books, pumpkins galore, and bat decor! We are so excited for the fun fall activities scheduled throughout this month.
While in math this week, we learned a new math game called "Monster Squeeze." This is a number guessing game that practices identifying numbers as "greater than" or "less than" other numbers.
We also explored shapes this week. The kids looked through magazines to find rectangles, squares, circles, and triangles. They were able to cut them out and make a collage of what they found!
In honor of the month of October, we had the opportunity to read the book Stellaluna. This is the story of a young bat who is separated from her mother and spends time living with birds. Once reunited with her mother, Stellaluna and the birds recognize their differences but realize they can be great friends regardless. We spent time talking as a class about how everyone is unique and our friendships are so special because of that. We then made our own bats as a class!
Mora's mom came in as our Mystery Reader. She read "Gibbus Moony Wants to Bite You" by Leslie Muir. It was such an exciting moment for us all!
VIP day was such a success! The kids had so much fun sharing our school with their guests. They spent half of the day upstairs touring the specials classes, and the other half enjoying activities together in the Kindergarten classroom. A special thank you to all of the VIPs who were able to attend, as well as all of the parents who made the day so much fun for our both our kids and families.
A few reminders:
We do not have school on Monday in honor of Columbus Day, and next Wednesday will be our trip to the Pumpkin Patch! We will be going to the Grove in Glenview. Most of the morning will be spent outside, so be sure to dress your child appropriately for the weather.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ms. Ardito
