Good afternoon,

We hope everyone has had a lovely week.
Here in Kindergarten we are finally in the swing of things!

We began our new science program on Tuesday. This first unit is "Pushes and Pulls", exploring force and energy. The kids spent all week investigating the way things move, how we move them, and the energy it takes to do so.

Our first task was to identify movement as either "pushing" or "pulling". We cut out pictures and glued them on a worksheet in either category.

Then we conducted our first experiment! Pairs worked together to figure out which took more "puffs" of energy to move across the table: A paper clip or a wooden block. We figured out that something that is heavier takes more energy to move. Ask your student which one was harder!

Indie's mom came in as a Mystery Reader and read "Arhur Babysits" by Marc Brown.

We had a wonderful time at the Pumpkin Patch! The weather was beautiful and we were able to do so many fun activities.

We went on a hayride.

We played spooky games around the field.

We stuffed scarecrows.
We searched for "needles" in a haystack.
And even pet a snake! It was quite the adventure. A big thank you to all of our parent volunteers who were so helpful and made the day so much fun for the kids.

This morning we got to play games outside with our Lil' Buddies. This is a program our school implemented that pairs each class up with a middle school advisory group. A few times a year we will get together to play and learn with each other. The kids had so much fun!

In math this week, we learned a new game called Roll and Record. In this game, the player rolls a die and records it on a number chart to see which number is the "winner" or receives the most rolls first. This activity focuses on number sense and counting.

Just a reminder next Tuesday is "Cubbie Blue" day. We are encouraging everyone to wear blue as the cubs progress in the next series.

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend,

Ms. Ardito
